With the support of the OneStar Foundation, CitySquare operates one of the largest AmeriCorps programs in Texas, leveraging more than 300 AmeriCorps members every year who serve throughout North Texas.

CitySquare AmeriCorps places members in three focus areas: Education, Food Security, and Social Services. Members have the opportunity to serve within CitySquare programs and with other nonprofit organizations throughout North Texas.

Applicants are encouraged to apply early to be considered for a position. Applicants are considered on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. Qualified applicants will be contacted by the CitySquare AmeriCorps office via phone or email and invited to an interview session.

Education Positions​

​

Members serve with one of our nonprofit afterschool program host sites in Dallas during the school year to support youth in their academic engagement and growth in social emotional skills.  After-school members serve 675 hours (22 hrs/wk) from September 5, 2023 to May 24, 2024. Members earn a total living allowance of $6,750 ($773/month) and an education award of $2,626.27.

 

Ready for a summer of service? Summer education members serve with one of our nonprofit summer program host sites in Dallas to engage youth in fun and educational day camp activities and foster growth in social and emotional skills. Summer members serve 300 hours (35-40 hours per week) for 8-9 weeks starting June 3, 2024. Members earn a total living allowance of $3,000 ($1,290-$1,600/month) and an education award of $1,459.26.

Social Services Positions

​

Social services members provide assistance to vulnerable individuals and families through case management, housing support, homeless outreach, resource referrals, workforce training, etc. within CitySquare programs and with external host sites in the DFW area and Paris, Texas. Preference for these positions is given to applicants pursuing a degree in social work or a related field, and some positions may fulfill internship requirements for social work/psychology/public health and related majors. Members serve 450 hours of service (32-35 hours per week) with three terms of service available: Fall: September 5 – December 22, 2023; Spring: January 8 - April 26, 2024; Summer: May 13 – August 16, 2024. Members earn a total living allowance of $4,500 ($1,204-$1,388 per month) and a $1,824.07 education award.

Food Security Positions

​

CitySquare AmeriCorps places members in food pantries at CitySquare and other partnering nonprofit organizations working to improve food security in the greater Dallas area. Members can also be placed in the CitySquare Food Recovery program, preparing healthy meals to reduce food waste, or with CitySquare Food Mobile Pantry. Members serve 450 hours of service (32-35 hours per week) with three terms of service available: Fall: September 5 – December 22, 2023; Spring: January 8 - April 26, 2024; Summer: May 13 – August 16, 2024. Members earn a total living allowance of $4,500 ($1,204-$1,388 per month) and a $1,824.07 education award. 

 

Additionally, there is a unique summer opportunity to serve with CitySquare Food’s Mobile Meals program. This program serves meals to children during the summer at their apartment communities. CitySquare Food summer members serve 450 hours for 12 weeks from May 20 – August 19, 2024. Members earn a total living allowance of $4,500 ($1,620 per month) and a $1,824.07 education award.

The minimum qualifications to serve:

  • High School Graduate (17 or older)

  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (deferred action does not suffice)

  • Reliable transportation

  • Able to pass a criminal background check

  • A commitment to make a difference

What’s the Education Award?

​

The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award is a benefit that AmeriCorps members receive upon successful completion of their term of service. The award can be used to go to most colleges and universities or to repay qualifying student loans. Click here to learn more.

  3. Improve economic opportunity for adults through case management and workforce development
