CitySquare’s Second Chance Community Improvement Program, SCCIP, works with first time felony offenders to reduce recidivism rates in South Dallas. The SCCIP program is a pre-trial diversion program that aims to improve lives through strategies that build support systems, coping skills, and supportive services that encourage making better choices. During the three phases throughout the program, participants abide by court orders that include:

    • Weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly court attendance
    • Case management
    • Drug testing
    • Education goals
    • Job skills training
    • Life skill groups
    • Counseling
    • Community service

Upon completion of the program, charges are dismissed and expunged. Case management staff continue to provide supportive services to neighbors for six-months to a year after graduation if needed.
