About CitySquare AmeriCorps
CitySquare exists to fight the causes and effects of poverty through service, advocacy, and friendship. Through our CitySquare AmeriCorps program we provide access to the benefits of the federal AmeriCorps program for over 350 individuals each year. Members serve in afterschool and summer programs to improve educational outcomes for children, with food programs to improve food security for neighbors, and with other social services programs to improve well-being for neighbors living in poverty. Members serve in both CitySquare programs and with external host site organizations. In return, members receive a unique professional development experience while earning a living allowance and education award.
The CitySquare AmeriCorps team is a made up of a Program Director, two Program Managers, a Program Specialist and a Program Coordinator. The team works closely together to provide a robust and positive member experience while managing a federal grant through the OneStar Foundation. Program Staff members believe in the power of national service to transform individuals lives and the community – all team members should have the same passion for national service while also bringing a solution-focused, detail-oriented mindset to the table. Team members should be able to effectively communicate through in-person trainings, meetings, and email communication to a variety of stakeholders.
The Program Specialist is responsible for ensuring grant compliance elements for the CitySquare AmeriCorps program, while also championing national service and representing the CitySquare AmeriCorps program in regional collaboration efforts. He/She/They will provide operational support to the department including member onboarding (particularly background checks), tracking member hours, collecting grant required paperwork, updating program databases, and maintaining program files. Additionally, the Program Specialist will serve as the representative for CitySquare AmeriCorps within the North Texas National Service Alliance and lead its Member Leadership Council initiative.
