Holly has come a long way in the last couple of years. With the help of CitySquare case managers, she was able to find an apartment after several months living at the Austin Street Shelter in 2016.
In February of 2017, once she was settled into her home, Holly began volunteering in the houseware department of the CitySquare Thrift Store. Shortly after she began volunteering, Holly was hired as a CitySquare employee. The staff and volunteers at the Thrift Store, Holly says, have been supportive and understanding of her needs as someone who lives with schizoaffective disorder.
Holly stays healthy and busy by focusing on her education, earning her GED to improve her credentials for job opportunities. Having completed the math section of the GED, she is working with CitySquare mentors to prepare for the other sections of the test. The resources she found at CitySquare helped Holly reconnect with her family. These days, no matter what she’s doing, Holly is always looking for opportunities to better herself.
