The Housing Specialist (HS) position will focus on the coordination of placing neighbors in the A Way Home Program. This position also involves moving homeless neighbors into housing, requiring knowledge of and experience in Rapid Re-Housing and Supportive Housing, HUD regulations and housing standards, housing first, mental health, addictive disorders, and community resources. The Housing Specialist will work in collaboration with other agencies, community partners and CitySquare’s Homeless Outreach Team. This position will interview, screen and assess individuals to determine eligibility for the A Way Home as defined by the eligibility guidelines set by funding source. This position will also be responsible completing housing inspections to ensure units meet HUD’s housing standards, contact moving companies and arrange for neighbors to be moved into new units, and facilitate housing orientations for new participants which includes explaining rules, policies, program expectations and terms of their lease. The Housing Specialist will act as a liaison among program participants, case managers, landlords and partner agencies to enhance communication and service delivery.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years’ experience working in homeless outreach and/or in supportive housing.

- Additional Requirements: Knowledge of local resources and HUD regulations. Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Ability to work occasional flexible hours as requested. Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation with valid insurance. Willing to transport program participants, as needed. Willing to work with chronically homeless individuals with disabilities (physical, mental and/or substance abuse) who may or may not have criminal backgrounds.
