The Food Recovery Kitchen Coordinator will assist with the implementation and operation of a 15 month pilot project to recover otherwise wasted food and safely transform it into healthy meals for our community. The pilot program will provide an opportunity to test operational logistics, evaluate feasibility and sustainability.
She/He will help to identify and develop partnerships for food sources and recruit sites or outlets for the distribution of the prepared meals. She/He will assist with the production of meals, menu development and other program requirements such as picking-up recovered food, delivering prepared meals, inventory management and overall program administration. She/He will also assist with other food production including supervision and training of kitchen interns in food recovery meal and other food preparation.
By leveraging the local food supply chain, CitySquare’s existing infrastructure, and employing WorkPaths graduates, our non-profit partners and neighbors will have increased access to low cost, nutritious meals that facilitate improved health outcomes and reduce food insecurity.
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: At least 1 year of kitchen experience preferred.
Additional Requirements: Must have a valid Texas Operator’s License and be able to meet the driver certification requirements of CitySquare (25 years of age or older). Able to communicate with different audiences and work effectively in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Able to work occasional overtime and flexible hours as requested.
