The Employer Relations Advocate will be responsible for building effective partnerships with employers to provide participants with livable wage employment opportunities. He/she/they will orient employers to the specific needs of program graduates and will work closely with internal staff, employers, and other partners to ensure job readiness. He/she/they will build a supportive relationship with all participants to support their program completion, employment, and job retention. The Workforce Advocate will possess and demonstrate good internal customer service that contributes to a collaborative team environment. Additionally, he/she/they will work collaboratively with the retention specialist to provide specialized soft skills training to participants in the WorkPaths program, supplying them with the knowledge and resources necessary to secure employment opportunities (consistent with their interests, skills, and goals) and to maximize job retention. He/she/they will work closely with WorkPaths staff to assess each neighbor for job readiness and connect them to employment opportunities that match each of their unique abilities. The Workforce Advocate will be the liaison to the Workforce Centers. He/she/they will refer all participants as needed, to appropriate workforce service providers; monitor WIOA services and progress.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Social Work or Business related fields preferred
Experience: Two (2) years of experience working in a social services environment or experience in workforce training or recruitment highly desirable.
Hospitality or construction industry experience also considered highly desirable for understanding needs of industry and partners.
Additional Requirements: Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and Outlook. Must be able to manage a case tracking system. Must be available to work evenings and weekends on some occasions. Must have valid driver’s license and auto insurance and reliable transportation. Must be able to travel within assigned region. General knowledge of workforce services; an understanding of the array of local services available to support program participants
