CitySquare AmeriCorps places members in three distinct focus areas: Education, Hunger and other Community Needs.
Applicants are encouraged to apply early to be considered for a position. Applicants are considered on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
Qualified applicants will be contacted by the CitySquare AmeriCorps office via phone or email and invited to an interview session in early August for positions starting September 2017 or mid-March for Summer 2018 positions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS TO SERVE:
- High School Graduate (17 or older)
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (deferred action does not suffice)
- Reliable transportation
- Able to pass a criminal background check
- Able to attend required Pre-Service Orientation

how do you want to serve?
School Year Education Focus
The Education Focus program places 50 members with after-school programs in Dallas! Education members serve a reduced-half-time term (20 hrs/wk for 675 hours of service) from September 5, 2017 – May 25, 2018. Members receive a living allowance of $4,400 and a $2,215 education award. All programs vary but require members to commit to serving after school hours, Monday through Friday from 1 p.m.– 7 p.m. for the entire school year.
Additionally, CitySquare AmeriCorps places 10 members with United Way of Greater Houston in Houston, Texas to serve a full-time term (40 hrs/wk for 1,700 hours of service) from September – July. Members earn a $20,400 living allowance and a $5,775 education award.
Hunger and Other Community Needs Focus
CitySquare AmeriCorps places about 10 members with CitySquare programs and other Dallas organizations to support nonprofits through case management, food pantry assistance, housing assistance, homeless outreach, workforce training, etc. Members serve a quarter-time term (35 hours/week for 450 hours of service) in four months (September – December; January – April; May – August) and earn a $2,800 living allowance and $1,527.78 education award. Preference for these positions is given to applicants pursuing a degree in social work.
CitySquare AmeriCorps places more than 150 members to serve in both Education and Hunger Focus areas during the summer months. Members serve 40 hours/week for 300 hours during the summer to earn a living allowance of $1,800 and an education award of $1,230. Applicants are encouraged to apply early for these positions! Summer positions begin May 29, 2018.
What’s the Education Award?
The Segal AmeriCorps Education Award is a benefit AmeriCorps members receive upon successful completion of their term of service.
