AmeriCorps places members in three distinct focus areas: Education, Hunger and other Community Needs. Members have the option to serve throughout the year for 675-1,700 hours of service or during the summer for 300-450 hours of service. Members must commit to serve the entire term of service in order to receive all benefits.Applicants are encouraged to apply early to be considered for a position. Applicants are considered on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.Qualified applicants will be contacted by the AmeriCorps office via phone or email. and invited to an interview session in early August for School Year positions or mid-March for Summer positions.

Serving in the summer months, CitySquare AmeriCorps members target childhood hunger and the summer learning gap by focusing on mobilizing food resources and educational attainment through summer enrichment programs. Members serve with Food on the Move, a CitySquare mobile meals program, or with summer enrichment programs at one of 12 community partners.Members serving with Food on the Move serve from May 31-August 12, 2016. Members will travel around the Dallas area to provide a nutritious meal and enrichment to children in their apartment communities. Applicants must be energetic, able to serve outside in the Texas heat, and have an interest in working with children in diverse settings. Preference will be given to applicants over 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license.Members serving with summer enrichment programs will serve between 8-10 weeks beginning May 31, 2016. Daily activities vary between sites but all share the common mission to educate and enrich our community’s youth. Applicants must be energetic, have an interest in working with school-aged youth and serve as a potential role model.Members serve 30–40 hrs/wk. over the summer for 300–450 hours of service and receive a living allowance of $1,800–$2,800 and $1,222-$1,515 education award.Summer positions are available in Dallas and Houston.
The School Year program places 40-50 part time members with one of the following afterschool programs in Dallas:

School Year members serve 20 hrs/wk for 675 hours of service and receive a living allowance of $4,400 and a $2,182 education award. Members commit to serve for a nine month period from September to May. All programs vary, but require members to commit to serving after school hours, Monday through Friday from 1 p.m.– 7 p.m. for the entire school year.
CitySquare AmeriCorps hosts a handful of full-time members within other Community Needs including volunteer management, social work services and neighbor support services. Full-time members serve 40 hrs/wk for 1,700 hours of service and receive a living allowance and end of term education award.
