N2 Texas Corps operates two distinct programs, each with a different focus area and varying requirements. Members serve 8-12 weeks for a summer term or 9 months with a school year term 9 and must commit to serve the entire term of service in order to receive all benefits.
SUMMER
The summer program targets childhood hunger and the summer learning gap by focusing on mobilizing food resources and educational attainment through summer enrichment programs. Members serve between 8-12 weeks with one of 12 community partners. For a complete list of summer placements see the 2012 Summer Placement Guide. Daily activities vary between sites but all share the common mission to educate and enrich our community’s youth. Applicants must be energetic, have an interest in working with school-aged youth, and serve as a positive role model.
Members serve 30-40 hrs/wk for a total of 330 hours of service over the summer and receive a living allowance of $1,800 and a $1,175 education award.
Summer positions are available in Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Austin. Please see the 2012 Member Application for details and member options.

SCHOOL YEAR
In addition to summer programs, members have the option to serve with the school year with one of eight afterschool programs in Dallas or San Antonio. School Year members serve 20 – 30 hrs/wk for 675 – 900 hours of service and receive a living allowance of $4,200-$5,700 and a $2,114-$2,775 education award. All programs vary but require members to commit to serving after school hours, Mon – Fri 2 – 6:30pm for the entire school year.
Most school year placements also participate in summer programming. See the 2012 Summer Placement Guide for more information on school year programs.
